<p>Filipina tennis star Alex Eala’s Queen’s Club Championships campaign came to an end in the second round, falling to 18-year-old Iva Jovic on the grass of the Andy Murray Arena.</p><p>Fifth seed Jovic imposed herself early, breaking in the opening game to lead 1-0.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/6/7/alex-eala-motivated-to-keep-working-after-birmingham-title-2323"><strong>Alex Eala &#x27;motivated to keep working&#x27; after Birmingham title</strong></a></div><p>Eala responded by raising the pace of her shots and holding at love to make it 2-1, but Jovic quickly restored her advantage with a double break for a commanding 4-1 lead.</p><p>The American teenager closed out the first set 6-2, which reflected her control throughout the match.</p><p>Despite winning just 45 percent of her first serves, Jovic compiled 12 winners against only 3 unforced errors.</p><p>Eala came out sharper in the second set. </p><p>Down 15-30 on her opening service game, she hammered in big serves to hold and take a 1-0 lead.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/6/9/alex-eala-outclasses-zhang-shuai-in-hsbc-championships-opener-2349"><strong>Alex Eala outclasses Zhang Shuai in HSBC Championships opener</strong></a></div><p>The world no. 19 Jovic responded by firing two back-to-back aces at 30-30 to level at 1-1 before breaking Eala to lead 2-1.</p><p>She later continued her momentum to ultimately win the match at 6-2 6-2, talllying 26 winners and just 9 unforced errors, while Eala had 19 unforced errors.</p><p>Eala will turn to her next tournament in Berlin as a qualifier starting June 15.</p><div> </div>
