Handout photo </div>MANILA – Nine athletes will represent the Philippines at the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal later this year.  Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham &quot;Bambol&quot; Tolentino confirmed the nine-athlete strong delegation, after the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines nominated two of its artistic gymnastic athletes. Artistic gymnasts Tchelzy Maayo and Hillarion Palles III complete the country&#x27;s lineup of athletes competing in the Summer Youth Olympics.  &quot;They&#x27;re the rising stars of Philippine sports. We are hoping for a podium finish and of course, we are praying for the gold. This is a fighting team and I believe they will do their best,&quot; Tolentino said. Asian Youth Games gold medalist Pi Durden Wangkay (men&#x27;s 200m) and silver medalist Naomi Cesar (women&#x27;s 800m) from athletics were among those earlier announced by the POC.  <div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/5/28/cyclist-krog-tracksters-wangkay-and-cesar-bound-for-youth-olympic-games-2301">READ: Cyclist Krog, tracksters Wangkay and Cesar bound for Youth Olympic Games</a></div>Palaro swimming standouts Jamesray Mishael Ajido (men&#x27;s 100m butterfly) and Riannah Chantelle Coleman (women&#x27;s 100m breaststroke) qualified for the Summer Youth Olympics earlier this month. Windsurfer Jade Justiniane, Cyclist Mariyanya Kong (women&#x27;s road and individual time trial) and wushu taolu specialist Angel Polo (women&#x27;s Taijiquan combined) are also in the Philippine contingent led by Philippine Taekwondo Association President Rocky Samson.  The Philippines only has one silver medal from Filipino-Norwegian Christian Tio in boy&#x27;s twin tip racing of kiteboarding in Buenos Aires last 2018. Luis Gabriel Moreno won a gold medal shared with China&#x27;s Li Jiaman in archery&#x27;s mixed international team event in Nanjing last 2014. The 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games are set from October 31 to November 13, where a total of 2,700 athletes will compete in 25 sports in Dakar, Senegal.
