<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1783344595316IMG_1367.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>Photo: IWF.MANILA – Filipina weightlifter Alexsandra Ann Diaz set two new youth world records while bagging gold medals at the 2026 IWF World Youth Weightlifting Championships in Cali, Colombia on Monday, Philippine time.</div>The 15-year-old weightlifter is the niece of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo.Diaz led Team Philippines on Day 1 of the competition, winning three gold medals while rewriting the history books in the youth division.Competing in the girls&#x27; 48kg class, Diaz started strong with a lift of 77kg in the snatch.Diaz first shattered the youth world record in the clean and jerk after successfully lifting 98 kilograms, surpassing the previous mark of 97kg.The 15-year-old then set a new youth world record with a total lift of 175 kilograms, eclipsing the previous record of 173kg.Romania&#x27;s Adelina Lorint took home the silver after lifting 74kg in the snatch, 90kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 164kg, while Valeria Osorio del Valle of Venezuela clinched bronze with a total of 162kg.In the 2025 edition in Lima, Peru, Diaz won gold after competing in the girls&#x27; 45kg class.She topped the snatch (70kg) and total (152kg), while placing third in the clean and jerk (82kg).Last October, the Zamboanga City native took home bronze in the 48kg class at the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.Jay-R Colonia clinched silver in the 56kg category, topping the clean and jerk with a lift of 140kg while recording 109kg in the snatch and 249kg in total.Althea Bacaro captured bronze in the women&#x27;s 44kg class, lifting 80kg in the clean and jerk, 60kg in the snatch, and 140kg in total.
