Football: PH men's team rallies back to down Laos for first ASEAN Championship win

The Philippine Men&#x27;s National Football Team came from behind in the second half to overcome Laos, 4-1, to claim its first win in the ASEAN Championship at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane on Saturday.  It was déjà vu for the Filipino booters against Laos, as the home side scored a breakthrough goal early in the match. Laotian player Damoth Thongkhamsavath beat goalkeeper Quincy Kameraad with a shot that went between his legs to give them the early lead.The Philippines came out firing early in the second half, dominating possession to erase the deficit. John Lucero scored the breakthrough goal for the Philippines, converting the assist from Scott Woods from the right side of the box to level the score at 1-all.  The Philippines saw its lead double from an own goal after the show by Cole Mrowka was deflected off Viengxay Sydavong in the 52nd minute. Jarvey Gayoso calmly converted a penalty in the 60th minute, followed by the header from team captain Daisuke Sato in the 88th minute to seal the victory. The Filipino booters claimed three points to place fourth in Group B. The Philippines will return home to face seven-time champions Thailand on Tuesday at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
