<p>Triathlete Kira Ellis will be sitting out the Philippines&#x27; Asian Games campaign in Aichi-Nagoya Japan to focus on recovery after an accident during training.</p><p>Ellis, in a social media post Friday, shared how the accident occurred, detailing that she was hit by a car during her training on a bike ride.</p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fkiracellis%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02pGENFxKeQtQUKFL5MrouarFLYM5GyhJHTshcLAwyTzpwRaqhhvoqtqSYqkS7pkdal&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="250" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>&quot;I was hit by a car on one of my training rides, and unfortunately, this means I won’t be racing this year,&quot; she said.</p><p>The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist said she will be taking her time to recover and will return to action next year. It was a &quot;roller coaster&quot; year for Ellis, who has been looking to regain her form after her &quot;old injury&quot; resurfaced, just as she was recuperating from a knee injury.</p><p>&quot;Starting the year with stitches, then getting injured in my knees a few weeks later, which lasted around seven months (plus an old injury resurfacing as well), and then having one of my worst accidents on the bike so far,&quot; she said.</p><p>&quot;These past few months have been a roller coaster for me, both mentally and physically. I always tried to stay strong and push through, hoping to make a comeback in the last few months we have left of this year.
