<p>Pole vaulter EJ Obiena finished fifth in men&#x27;s pole vault at the Diamond League Weltklasse Zürich 2026 in Switzerland.</p><p>Obiena started off the meet on a high note, leaping 5.50m and 5.65m in just one try.</p><p>However, the Filipino Olympian had to dig deep to clear 5.80m in his final attempt, after failing in his first two jumps.</p><p>Obiena then cleared 5.90m in just one try, his second best height of the season.  </p><p>The Filipino pole vaulter tried to raise the bar to clear 6.00m but failed on all three tries.</p><p>&quot;5.90m here in Zurich🇨🇭 Thank you @weltklassezurich for always hosting such a wonderful competition,&quot; Obiena wrote on his Instagram post.</p><p>&quot;PS: With this I also qualified for next year’s 🌏 World Championship 💪,&quot; he added.</p><div><iframe class="instagram-media instagram-media-rendered" id="instagram-embed-6" src="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DcjnyskNP77/embed/captioned/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=594&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fod2-workbench-web.abs-cbn.com&amp;rp=%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A6%2C%22os%22%3A12018769.799999952%7D" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen="" frameBorder="0" height="1076" data-instgrm-payload-id="instagram-media-payload-6" scrolling="no" style="background:white;max-width:540px;width:calc(100% - 2px);border-radius:3px;border:1px solid rgb(219, 219, 219);box-shadow:none;display:block;margin:0px 0px 12px;min-width:326px;padding:0px"></iframe></div><script async="" src="//www.instagram.com/embed.js"></script><p>Two-time Olympic gold medalist Mondo Duplantis took home gold after clearing an outdoor world lead of 6.25m.  </p><p>2024 Paris Olympics bronze medalist Emmanouil Karalis captured silver while setting a Greek record of 6.20m in just one try, surpassing his season best of 6.17m.</p><p>Karalis and Duplantis tried to break a new world record and clear 6.32m, but both failed in all three attempts.  </p><p>Norway&#x27;s Sondre Guttormsen clinched bronze with a clearance of 6.00m.</p><p>Obiena is aiming for consistency in his jumps, as he gears up to defend his Asian Games men&#x27;s pole vault title next month.</p>
