Photo from UAAP Media.MANILA — Far Eastern University is on a roll in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament. The Lady Tamaraws have won three straight games all thanks to their 23-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10 win over Adamson University during their Saturday afternoon clash at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Gerz Petallo put up 16 points on top of 15 receptions and five digs to lead the Morayta-based spikers, while equally impressive were Jean Asis who put up 14 points and one dig, and Faida Bakanke who had 13 markers and seven digs. “Happy naman kami doon sa nakita naming performance ng mga players, and nagbubunga na yung efforts nila,” said FEU deputy Manolo Refugia after their victory. “Unti-unti, nakakabalik na kami and napapakita na nila yung FEU Lady Tamaraws talaga,” he continued. Petallo them commended how things are finally paying off for the Lady Tams after they absorbed two straight losses before this win streak which they now hold. ”Sobrang happy kami kasi pinaghirapan talaga namin ‘to,” said Petallo, whose squad improved to 4-2. “Thankful kami na naging bunga ito at lumalabas na yung consistency na hinahanap namin.” One factor that helped Far Eastern U complete the win despite their first-frame setback was how they only put up 15 errors to AdU’s 32. It was their advantages on blocks, 12-1, and aces, 10-3, however, which allowed them to limit the Lady Falcons in scoring in the last three sets and limit them to only scoring 15 at most in that span. On the other hand, Adamson U, despite its impressive performance in Set 1, fell to 2-3 in the team standings after this contest. Lady Falcons star rookie Shaina Nitura put up a game-high 24 points with 13 receptions and nine digs, and Frances Mordi followed with 12 points, 17 receptions, and 11 digs, but these went for naught as they absorbed their second straight loss.
