UAAP Media.</div>MANILA (UPDATED) — University of Santo Tomas vented its frustrations on University of the Philippines behind the efforts of Angge Poyos and Reg Jurado, bouncing back in UAAP Season 88 women&#x27;s volleyball.The Golden Tigresses notched a four-set victory, 16-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-20, over the Fighting Maroons on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, with the duo combining for 40 points.Poyos finished with 24 points, seven digs, and six receptions, while Jurado added 16 points, three digs, and two receptions as UST secured its third win in six games. The latter also praised her squad for rising to the occasion after recovering from a straight-sets loss to Adamson University last Saturday.&quot;This match will help us determine kung ano yung ranking namin,&quot; said Jurado, as they forced a three-way tie with the Fighting Maroons and the Lady Falcons. &quot;So kahit pangit yung first set, talagang nilaban namin. Ni-remind namin yung mga sarili namin na must-win talaga.&quot;In addition, Jonna Perdido chipped in 13 points, five receptions, and two digs. Julia Balingit added four points, while Cassie Carballo delivered 18 excellent sets on top of three digs and one point.Aside from their balanced attack, it was also the Tigresses&#x27; composure in the endgame — aided by a costly UP error — that sealed the win.After seeing their four-point cushion cut in half, 21-19, the Tigresses responded with three straight points from Balingit, Perdido, and Avril Bron.Although Lianne Penuliar&#x27;s service error halted their run, Jaz Manguilimotan committed the same miscue on the other end, allowing UST to return to the win column.Meanwhile, Niña Ytang posted 14 points while Jelai Gajero added 12, but it was not enough as State U absorbed its second straight loss — its third in the last four outings.
