They cited a grueling campaign in the UAAP Season 88 women&#x27;s volleyball tournament, where they completed a perfect run from the two-round eliminations to the Finals, gifting La Salle its 13th crown.</p><p>“To be invited to the National Team training pool is a privilege I never take for granted, and playing for the Philippine flag is the highest honor,” said Canino. “However, coming off the high intensity of UAAP Season 88, Amie, Shevana, and I have decided to prioritize our physical recovery.”</p><p>Canino said they already conveyed their decision to the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), the governing body for the sport in the country.</p><div><br/></div><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FABSCBNSports%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02NkbbTe1uiVNwoALcRVYcpZwnGUHPGvrXfaTfZAo8GqohCeBh9Aa3vEvtC7CpdvHsl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="646" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/volleyball/2026/5/13/pnvf-to-send-out-more-invites-as-seag-alas-core-declines-to-play-1746"><strong>READ: PNVF to send out more invites as SEAG Alas core declines to play<br/></strong></a></div><p>“We first need to let our bodies heal and reset so that we can give our best to the game,” said Canino.</p><p>“We’ve communicated this to the PNVF, and while we won’t be on the court this time, our hearts are with the team as they compete in the AVC Women’s Cup 2026.”</p><p>The La Salle troika were the latest to beg off from national team duties, following the footsteps of captain Jia de Guzman, Bella Belen, and more.</p>
