Kapamilya React: JM de Guzman looks back on teleserye portrayals

In the over two decades that he’s in the local entertainment scene, JM de Guzman has never failed to astound us with his versatility and depth as an actor that he’s able to exhibit through the movies and teleseryes he starred in. And his most recent acting stint is the two-part Father’s Day special of <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/maalaalamokaya/articles-news/jm-de-guzman-wows-viewers-with-brilliant-portrayal-in-mmk-logbook-17474">Maalaala Mo Kaya, which first episode was already aired last June 11. </a>As we look forward on seeing the second part this coming Saturday, June 18, the talented actor graced the latest episode of Kapamilya React, wherein we looked back on three of his notable projects in ABS-CBN – <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/articles-photos/73082517-angelito-ang-batang-ama-2011-2012-15312">Angelito: Batang Ama</a> (2011-2012), <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/pamilyako">Pamilya Ko</a> (2019-2020), and <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/initsamagdamag">Init Sa Magdamag</a> (2021).First off is <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/articles-photos/73082517-angelito-ang-batang-ama-2011-2012-15312">Angelito: Batang Ama</a>, in which he impressively portrayed the now-iconic titular character. According to him, it was offered to him by Direk Laurenti Dyogi, who is now the head of ABS-CBN’s TV Production and of its talent arm <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/starmagic">Star Magic</a>. It served as his second teleserye in a leading role, following his stint in the remake of the classic soap opera <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/mulasapuso">Mula Sa Puso</a> in 2011.As he played Chico in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/pamilyako">Pamilya Ko</a>, the eldest child of the Mabunga Family, JM had the opportunity to not just get along with veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez, who took on the role of their mom Luz, but to learn from her as well. The Kapamilya actor said that he didn’t need to ask her about acting advices as he’s able to pick up tips just by simply watching her. Besides, she’s also able to teach them to always read the script, to be punctual, and to be always ready every time they come to work.However, aside from working with them, he also enjoyed the kulitan moments he shared with his castmates, especially with his male co-stars, whenever the reels were not rolling.And lastly, his award-winning performance as Peterson in the primetime series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/initsamagdamag">Init Sa Magdamag</a>, which brought him the Best Actor accolade from the 2021 Asian Academy Creative Awards. He imparted that he prepared for it way before their lock-in taping started by consulting with the scriptwriters in order to know and understand his character deeper.
