He’s among those child stars whose transformation as an individual and as an actor we’re able to witness. And this year, Zaijian Jaranilla is about to prove that he’s poised to become one of the promising heartthrobs of his generation as he takes on the role of Gio Ilustre in The Broken Marriage Vow.

Let’s look back on some of his remarkable teleserye performances through the years in this episode of Push Evolution!

From his short stint in Goin’ Bulilit and being the young counterpart of leading men in I Love Betty La Fea and Komiks Presents Tiny Tony, he was chosen to topbill the 2009 inspirational series May Bukas Pa, wherein he’s been known and recognized for his notable portrayal of the iconic character Santino.

This paved the way for him to land roles in various Kapamilya programs in the coming years. In 2010, he appeared in two fantasy dramas – first was in Rod Santiago’s Agua Bendita, wherein he lent his voice to the friendly talking clownfish named Otep, then in Noah, wherein he amused us with his depiction of Eli, a young boy who behaved like an ape.

The following year, Zaijian was among the child stars who headlined the family drama Ikaw Ay Pag-ibig alongside Mutya Orquia, Louise Abuel, and Xyriel Manabat. It was succeeded by his stint in Lorenzo’s Time (2012) as the titular character and in Juan Dela Cruz as a young aswang named Tonton.

In 2014, he took on the role of the young Samuel Severino (Coco Martin) Ikaw Lamang, then endeared us with his portrayal of Emong in Hawak Kamay alongside Piolo Pascual, Iza Calzado, Xyriel Manabat, Andrea Brillantes, and Yesha Camile.

He also appeared in the long-running primetime series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano in 2015 as Cardo’s (Coco Martin) young kababayan from Botolan Cocoy Amaba, and in the 2016 romance drama The Story of Us as the young Macoy (Xian Lim).

The 20-year-old actor went on to amuse us with his portrayal of slave-turned-hero Liksi in the fantaserye Bagani, and touched our hearts with his special participation in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin as Jacob, the late son of Jodi Sta. Maria’s character Marissa.

Apart from these teleseryes, he also appeared in two narratives of Wansapanataym, namely, “Bully-lit” and “That’s My Toy, That’s My Boy”, as well as in four episodes of Ipaglaban Mo, namely, “Dukot”, “Titser”, “Kuya”, and “Budol”. Meanwhile, his performances in Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes “Xylophone”, “Armas”, “Cellphone”, “Bandila”, “Galon”, “Orasan”, “Wheelchair”, and “Dialysis Machine” were indeed notable as it bestowed him accolades from award-giving bodies.
