Coming from the success of his recent concert
DOS
last month, Daniel Padilla shows a different side of himself on the cover of the May issue of Working Mom magazine. The 19-year-old heartthrob poses with his mom Karla Estrada and siblings Juan Carlos (JC), Margaret Fiona (Magui) and Carmela (Lelay) in their new Quezon City home. On the day of the cover pictorial, even though DJ had just come home from a 4 am taping of Got To Believe and he had a mall show later that afternoon, he still managed to be professional enough to help instruct his family throughout the shoot.
Being the eldest in the family, most people don't realize that DJ has had to take on a more mature role in their household at an early age. “
Pero hindi naman ako
feeling bossing.
Talagang
normal
lang siguro yun sa akin
[to discipline]
kasi siyempre bata sila eh. Hindi pa
nila alam [
yung ginagawa] nila. Kami ni
mama
yung [nakakaalam ng tama o mali
],” he shared during the magazine interview. DJ is also a protective kuya because both his mom and sisters agree that he is always concerned about them showing too much skin when they are wearing shorts or cropped tops. “
Kahit noong bata pa ako, iba na ako mag-isip kumpara sa mga kaibigan ko. Isa sa mga dahilan kaya nag
-showbiz
ako ay para matulungan si
Mama,” he admitted.
As his mom Karla puts it, DJ is just as protective with his family as he is on-and-off camera with love team partner Kathryn Bernardo. This is how he has always been growing up. “
Pag ay nang-aaway sa mga kapatid niya at sa akin
. Freak out
siya dun
,” Karla told Working Mom. Now that DJ is enjoying the perks of being one of the hottest names in showbiz, he has also managed to share his blessings with his family as well. DJ said his relationship with his mother is not like any typical mother-son. “
Wala kaming
cheesy moments!
Hindi naman sobrang seryoso pero bata pa lang kami, ganun na kami—talagang buhay ang pinag-uusapan. Kaya lumaki ako na sobrang bukas ang isip ko sa mga bagay,
” he said.
Although he does not want to sound sentimental, DJ also shared his sincere wish for his mom for Mother's Day. “
Sana maging masaya siya parati. Yun ang pinaka-importante—ang maging maligaya siya,
” he said.
