Piolo Pascual on movie with Sarah Geronimo: ‘I think it’s not the right time’

After celebrating his 38th birthday last January 12, Piolo Pascual admitted his only real wish this year was for his only son Inigo who recently joined showbiz full-time. “Ang wish ko lang huwag niya makalimutan yung napag-usapan namin, huwag niya kalimutan yung core niya. Iba kasi yung once na maka-experience ng success, fame, money, adulation, baka pumunta sa utak eh. Yun lang talaga ang prayer ko na huwag niya kalimutan yung pinagsimulan niya,” he said.

Even though his son Inigo turns 18 this year, Piolo said now is not the time for him to have a girlfriend again. “I guess it will come at the right time. Gusto ko sana this year but I promised my son na lumaki sa States, hindi ko nabigyan ng oras so any chance that we get to spend time with each other, gusto ko na itutok sa kanya para kung ano man yung pagkukulang ko sa kanya during the last few years na hindi ko siya nakasama, bago man lang siya mag-18, magawan ko ng paraan ‘di ba?” he shared during his launch as the newest male product ambassador of Silka Papaya Soap held last January 13 at 55 Events Place in Quezon City.

The popular heartthrob said he didn’t do anything special for his birthday until evening came. “Natutulog lang ako eh. Kaso my family prepared a surprise for me with some close friends a stone’s throw away from where I live and everyone was there kaya okay siya. My son was there and I’m happy because he spent the last three days with me. When I arrived from the States, he made sure na wala siyang work. Siya mismo nagpa-block off since he’s starting a movie na. Mas busy pa nga sa akin yung anak ko eh. Sabi ko sa kanya when he’s free, ako mag-aadjust sa schedule niya,” he recalled.

With another major endorsement under his belt, Piolo said he is always flattered to be chosen out of all the celebrities out there. “Nakakataba ng puso, for me it’s not just being an endorser but being an ambassador. Hindi na ako nagbilang [ng endorsements] nung lumagpas na ng lima baka habulin na ako ng BIR (laughs). I never thought I’d be endorsing a whitening soap but I think we have the same humble beginnings and we worked hard to be successful in our own fields so it’s really personal and I’m really, really happy that they chose me to become part of the Silka family,” he said.

When news came out last year that he was slated to do a Valentine movie with Sarah Geronimo, Piolo admitted he was excited but revealedu to the media that it will not be pushing through. “I can’t speak about that kasi hindi pa sila nag-pi-pitch ulit. Yung assignment ko kasi, do my back story for the movie kaso with the recent developments parang hindi na yata tuloy yung Sarah pero I cannot speak for Star Cinema so we will find out once I meet with them next week kung ano yung pagtutuloy. Baka hindi with Sarah. May ibang concerns ang Star Cinema eh. Sila yung mag-de-decide kung anong matutuloy. Dapat yun February pero hindi naman natuloy nung December. So parang I can’t speak for them,” he said.

Piolo said he would have loved to get the chance to act with the Popstar Princess if given the chance. “Yeah of course I want to work with Sarah. I really want to work with her but I think it’s not the right project or I think it’s not the right time so we’ll see,” he said.
