Nadine Lustre reacts to Darna rumors: 'Why not?'

Nadine Lustre is one of the celebrities who has been rumored to be in consideration to play the role of Darna. In an interview with the press, the Kapamilya star was asked about her reaction to it. Nadine admitted she feels flattered to be considered by fans to play the Pinay superhero.

'Well nakakatuwa. I'm just thankful for the fans na sabi nga nila ako daw ang nai-imagine nila kasi nga di ba Darna she's one of the most iconic na characters ng roles dito sa atin so why not? But now we have On the Wings, we have the concert (upcoming February concert), we'll see.'

Her onscreen partner James Reid, who was also present during the interview, said that he thinks that Nadine actually fits the role. '[Darna] should be Pinay. Of course [Nadine] has the physique to be Darna and also she can demonstrate that female power which is important,' James said.

Director Erik Matti recently weighed in on who should play Darna. Among the names he discussed, Nadine’s was included as well as Liza Soberano and Jessy Mendiola. According to direk Erik, he has yet to see Nadine again to assess if she can play the role. “Okay din naman si Nadine. Hindi ko pa siya nakikita personal. Hindi ko pa nakikita kung gaano siya katangkad ngayon. Kasi I’ve done two commercials with her a year ago. Hindi ko lang alam kung ang height niya ay tama,” he said during an interview.

For now, Nadine is still busy working on her Kapamilya teleserye On the Wings of Love. According to the actress, there are still a lot of exciting happenings that will unfold in the show. 'Abangan niyo po, magkakaron pa ng twist pero mas exciting. Well direk Tonette (Antonette Jadaone) said she wants a happy ending. For sure happy ending po 'yung On the Wings of Love so we’re really excited, may happy ending na rin si Clark and Leah,' she stated.
