The 82-year-old mentor and host left behind an important legacy in an industry where he spent more than half of his life.


More than the stars he discovered and the shows he hosted, Kuya Germs, as he was fondly called in the business, lived a life that showed significant lessons that the public and the personalities could take away.


Stay passionate

From being a “telonero” or curtain raiser back in the 50s, Kuya Germs has devoted almost 53 years of his life into the business that he loves. In fact, despite having a sensitive condition of late, Kuya Germs made sure to remain active by being part of several events like the recently-concluded PMPC Star Awards event or as a consultant for GMA’s Sunday variety show Sunday Pinasaya.

In doing favors without asking for anything in return, Kuya Germs had subconsciously ingrained gratefulness into the hearts of the people he left behind. From actors, actresses, hosts, singers to dancers, a lot of celebrities thanked him for being there for them and for simply being an inspiration that perseverance and utter love for the local entertainment industry.


Maintain strong ties

Kuya Germs is one of the few people in the business who could easily cross networks. In fact, the showbiz icon appeared in two ABS-CBN shows. First on the second anniversary of It’s Showtime where he performed with That’s Entertainment member Billy Crawford and the last one was in 2014 when he celebrated his birthday on Gandang Gabi Vice.


Recognize progress and talent

Apart from being a talent manager, Kuya Germs also spearheaded the creation of the Eastwood Walk of Fame which is patterned after the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame wherein celebrities get to have their own “stars” to recognize their contribution in the business.
