From being called Jonalyn Viray, the
singer now goes by just Jona. How does she feel about the name change?
“Noong una, di pa ako
nasasanay although nickname
ko naman talaga siya. ‘Yung mga
close friends
ko
and close
sa puso ko
, Jona
talaga tawag sa akin. Pero sa
showbiz world
na
Jona l
ang itatawag sa akin, noong una talaga naninibago pa ako pero ngayon nasanay na rin. Mas
na
-aabsorb
ko na siya,
” she said.
Having transferred to ABS-CBN recently, Jona admitted feeling nervous that she got picked to sing the theme song of comediennes Pokwang and Melai Cantiveros’s light drama series. “
Noong
inintroduce
ako, ‘pagkanta ko sa
presscon
, n
agulat ‘yung mga tao nga. Parang hindi sila makapaniwala na nandoon ako, kumakanta ng isa sa mga teleserye sa
ABS-CBN,” Jona recalled.
Expressing how thankful she is to the Kapamilya network and Star Music for the opportunity, she also shared she was joining this year’s Himig Handog. “
Sobrang
blessed
, sobrang nagpapasalamat ako
,” the singer said.
Jona also shared her plans for Holy Week. “
Bahay lang
(ako),
ipapagawa ‘yung kusina kasi ‘yun lang talaga ‘yung
chance
na matutukan ko ‘yung isang
area
sa bahay.
”
Nonetheless, she said that she will still observe religious practices. “
Magkakaroon ka ng
quiet time and spiritual time with the Lord and then after that, at
saka sisimulan ‘yung paggawa sa kusin
a.”
When asked about her Holy Week sacrifices, Jona answered, “Normally
naman po wala naman po akong ginagawa na
any rituals or sacrifices during Holy Week.
Siguro ano lang po, basta
I make sure
na magkakaroon ako ng talagang
quiet time.”
