Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III said on Wednesday, March 25, that he has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

In a statement, the former Senate president said that he received his test results on Tuesday evening, March 24.

"The swab was taken last Friday, March 20, 2020. I have quarantined myself upon the doctor’s advice and consistent with the protocol. I feel I am, with God’s help, on the way to recovery," he added.

He also asked for prayers for himself and his family, as his wife, Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, is about to give birth.
