As part of the iWanTFC digital horror anthology Horrorscope, actor Paolo Gumabao said he enjoyed playing the role of a gardener who becomes Iyah Mina’s love interest in the Leo episode of the limited series.

“Ako dito si Jonas, isang hardinero na nakakita ng karatula sa labas ng bahay ni Ms. Iyah. Hindi niya kinaya yung ganda ng character ni Ms. Iyah dito. Na-in love siya. Minsan dinidiligan niya yung mga halaman. Namatay siya then bubuhayin and dun talaga mag-uumpisa ang kuwento sa pagbuhay ni Jonas,” he shared.

In real life, Paolo said he has always had an interest in horoscopes. “Nanunuod ako minsan ng YouTube videos about horoscopes tapos iniisa isa ko talaga lahat ng mga horoscopes tapos kino-compare ko siya sa mga taong kilala ko,” he admits.

Thankful to be able to work even during the pandemic, the Horrorscope actor said he actually sees the positive side of being locked in during taping.

“As a newcomer actor, work is very important for me kasi siyempre para magkaroon ng more projects and para mas mai-showcase ko din yung talent ko sa acting. Kahit lock-in yung taping, kahit mapapalayo ako sa pamilya ko okay lang naman kasi temporary lang naman and it’s for my future din naman. Actually mas na-e-enjoy ko siya sa tooto lang. Yun nga lang nakaka-homesick siya pero mas na-e-enjoy ko siya in terms of mas nakaka-focus ako sa character ko, mas nakakapagbasa ako ng script, walang distractions. Mas focused talaga. At saka mas nakakapag-bond kami sa isa’t isa and that’s very important for actors and actresses, to bond with each other, to talk, to get to know each other para mas maganda yung chemistry niyo sa eksena,” he explained.

When dealing with real life matters, Paolo said he does not mind facing scary things. “The truth is the most important thing to me. I need to know the truth about everything. Maging positibo man yan or negatibo, kailangan ko malaman yung katotohanan sa lahat ng klase ng bagay and for me, if matatakot kang harapin yung katotohanan, hindi ka magiging in sync with reality. Mas maganda na alam natin kesa hindi natin alam. May nangyayari na palang hindi maganda, mas maganda na ware tayo so we are equipped with the knowledge kung paano natin haharapin yung katotohanan na yun,” he said.
