After coming out with a house tour vlog earlier this month showing the rental home she and husband Luis Manzano are going to live in for the next two years, Jessy Mendiola said the reason behind the temporary home is because they plan to build a brand-new home on the same property where Luis grew up. The house will be located in an exclusive village in Quezon City.

“Pinapatibag namin. As in from ground up, wala. We’re building it again. Actually, gusto namin very rustic siya na minimalist. Ayaw namin ng maraming nangyayari and it’s actually our dream house so we want to take time. Sabi ko, ‘Let’s take time. Let’s get a nice rental home para din hindi tayo haggard.’ Pero nakakatuwa kasi talagang nakaka-excite,” she shared with the press during the Cathy Valencia Advanced Skin Care Clinic thanksgiving party where she was announced as their newest celebrity ambassador.

Jessy shared that the international architectural firm they chose to work on their dream house is also where one of her sisters is currently employed.

“Company siya based in Hong Kong. Nag-wo-work dun yung sister ko. They’re really good and yung isa din naming bahay pa somewhere in Batangas papagawa din namin sa kanila so I’m really excited. Kaya todo ipon kami ni Luis. Kailangan work, work, work ‘di ba? Medyo malaki yung area but siyempre dream naming dalawa na tumira by the beach so sabi ko sana masimulan natin ito pero of course priority namin yung house namin in Manila. Sabi ko, ‘Love, paisa-isa muna. Mahina ang kalaban!’” she laughed.

Having been in showbiz for the past 17 years, Jessy said she always shares the expenses with her husband.

”Of course. Lumaki kasi ako na nagtatrabaho ako simula bata pa [lang] and lumaki ako na na-train ng mabuti sa [pag-handle ng] pera. So as long as kaya ko, I’ll also share. actually iba-iba naman ang opinions ng mga mag-aasawa but kami ni Luis we always make sure to be honest and vocal about our financial plans. And si Lord talaga grabe siya magbigay ng blessings. Tuloy tuloy. We’ve been very, very grateful. I’m very grateful na even if I’m not that active on TV or sa movies ‘di ba, I still get a lot of endorsements and that means that brands trust me enough to endorse them or to be their ambassador. So, I’m just really grateful. As in parang everything’s just peachy,” she added.

Jessy and Luis tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Batangas last February after five years of dating. The couple first announced their engagement in December 2020.
