Check out the instruments Pippen uses to produce his own music

A product of “MusmusiKuwela” by the Music School of Ryan Cayabyab, OPM artist Pippen dreams to also make timeless music like the Maestro himself. And in order to create beautiful songs, he must be equipped with the right tools and instruments.

Promoting his first single “Sabik” on Kapamilya Chat, Pippen showed some of the instruments he uses to write and produce songs. He brandished his first and newly purchased electric guitar, “Ito ay unang-una kong electric guitar kasi hindi naman talaga ako nag-e-electric guitar pero napabili ako kasi I want to explore electric guitars din. Nagagamit ko siya in producing my songs.”

Next up, his full-size 88-key keyboard that’s been with him for seven years already, “Binili ko ito for two reasons. Una, para sa aking piano concentration sa school. Pangalawa, para din sa pagpo-produce ko kasi mas gusto ko ‘yung weighted na piano, yung nararamdaman mo na halos kapareho siya ng bigat ng totoong piano.”

His most favorite is his acoustic guitar, a graduation gift from his dad. He explained why he chose that brand, “Kasi it’s very great sounding na hindi mo naman kailangan maglabas ng sobrang laking pera. It’s really a bang for the buck. Talagang sulit na sulit siya kasi kung paano mag-resonate ‘yung vibrations ng string doon sa kahoy sa loob. Ramdam na ramdam mo ‘yung tinatawag na tunog-langit. Para bang ‘pag narinig mo siya, it will take you places, eh.”

The setup wouldn’t be complete without a reliable microphone. Pippen’s chosen brand is versatile enough to absorb the sounds of instruments, and can be used in recordings and his online gigs.

To end the show, Pippen took on a fun musical challenge that required his own rendition of popular OPM songs including “Hawak Kamay” by Yeng Constantino and “Malaya” by Moira Dela Torre.
