MANILA – The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) said financial services have been restored following an interruption that irked consumers Friday afternoon.

Bills payments and fund transfers were temporarily unavailable, the bank said in response to a surge in Twitter inquiries from consumers complaining of interrupted services.

BPI did not explain the cause of the service interruption. Services were restored at around 5:55 p.m., it said in an advisory.

"Financial transactions (bills payment, fund transfer, etc.) via the mobile app and website are now restored. You may resume doing your usual transactions," the bank said.

Consumers earlier expressed their disappointment by saying that the bank should have advised clients ahead of time.
