MANILA — Workers in the private sector who will report to duty on regular holidays this month should receive double their regular daily pay, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Sunday.

The country is set to commemorate Eid'l Fitr and Independence Day on June 5 and 12, respectively.

Eid’l Fitr is the feast marking the end of Ramadan. It was declared a regular holiday because of its religious and cultural significance to the Muslims.

In an advisory issued by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, he said employees who did not work on said regular holidays shall be paid 100 percent of their salary while those who worked shall be paid 200 percent of their regular salary for the first eight hours.
