MANILA — They’ve been embroiled in breakup rumors since Julia Barretto was quoted to have said that she is “very much in love,” but “not with anybody” in particular.

And for the first time since this furor about their relationship blew up, Barretto and Joshua Garcia made a public appearance together, taking the stage of the 2019 ToyCon at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on Friday to promote their upcoming zombie flick, “Block Z.”

The two clung to each other as they shared what to expect from their ambitious movie which, under the helm of acclaimed young director Mikhail Red of “Birdshot” fame, is looking to take the foreign genre of zombies and putting it in a Filipino environment.

It was earlier this month when Barretto’s talk with her good friend, actress Erich Gonzales, about heartbreaks and being in love with the “peace” she found was published online.

Fans were concerned over the fact that she did not once mention Garcia, taking it as a glaring hint that the two have now become increasingly distant with one another and have decided to split.

Red, in a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, said both Barretto and Garcia remained true professionals amid these rumors as they worked on finishing the movie.
