MANILA – Coco Martin has weighed in on the controversy involving this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) after three members of its executive committee resigned on Friday, the same day that the first four official entries based on script submissions were announced.

In an interview on Tuesday, Martin said his only goal in making movies is to give the Filipino audience something that they will enjoy.

According to former MMFF executive committee members Ricky Lee, Rolando Tolentino and Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, they resigned their posts when the rest of the executive committee “took a different direction, by putting too much emphasis on commerce over art.”

Aside from Martin’s movie, also part of this year’s MMFF are Star Cinema's superhero flick "The Revengers," which stars Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, and Pia Wurtzbach; "Almost is Not Enough" directed by Dan Villegas and starring Jennylyn Mercado and Jericho Rosales; and "Love Traps #FamilyGoals" top-billed by Vic Sotto and Dawn Zulueta.
