MANILA - Hollywood actor Osric Chau, best known for his beloved role in the hit CW series "Supernatural," has clarified his plans to cast Filipina actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith as his co-lead in his movie "Empty by Design."

He earlier revealed that Curtis-Smith will be starring in his film —about 2 people who rediscover their roots in the Philippines— but a sudden shift in the actress’ schedule may prove problematic.

"Because of our schedule and with her network, it’s kind of iffy right now," he said during a Q&A session with the media this Friday at the AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2018, where he is one of the headlining celebrity guests.

But Chau quickly added that his team has a list of other local actresses they may cast if they fail to fix the scheduling conflict, thanks to the help of Filipino producers and a local media company.

He did not share any of their names, however.

"Empty by Design" is Chau's first self-produced movie, and it will be directed by his roommate Andrea Walter, also the scriptwriter, who is half-Filipino.

He calls it a "passion project" because he wants to tell this story of what it feels like to be an "outsider wherever they are in this world."

He shared his own experience growing up as the "Chinese kid" in Canada, but was treated as a foreigner when he moved to China due to his sensibilities - the things he likes, the shows he watched- which he described as "very North American."

He also said that while their goal is to share this story of a couple of half-Filipinos who feel distant from their roots, he explained that they, too, want to show the beauty of Manila —that’s there's more to it than drugs and poverty.

Chau and his team will begin filming this Tuesday.
