WATCH: Susan Roces praises Coco Martin for keeping FPJ's legacy alive

MANILA -- Veteran actress Susan Roces has praised Coco Martin for giving life to Cardo-- one of the greatest roles of her late husband Fernando Poe Jr. has ever played-- through the remake of hit 1997 movie "Ang Probinsyano."

The 2015 remake of the hit action movie celebrated its first anniversary on primetime TV on Wednesday.

In a thanksgiving event held Thursday, Roces took the opportunity to express her gratitude for Martin's effort to restore Filipinos' interest in the action genre.

According to the 75-year-old Roces, most of FPJ's films have a happy ending, where the good always won.

"Those who have followed the movies of FPJ, Naging adhikain niya ang i-pakita that good triumphs over evil," she said.

She also thanked Martin for believing in Poe's craft, and for using it as an inspiration.

"Tinatanaw kong malaking utang na loob ang inspirasyon na hinugot ni Coco sa mga pelikula ni FPJ, isa lang siya sa iilan na nag-appreciate ng mga action movies ni FPJ. At dahil diyan ay natuklasan niya ang FPJ's 'Ang Probinsyano,'" she added.
