MANILA - Members of Anonymous Philippines said they have already warned the Commission on Elections (Comelec) about security loopholes in their website back in 2013.

This, after voter's data from the Comelec website was leaked by hackers, putting information of 55 million voters in the country at risk.

Hindi ba't kapabayaan ito?" said one Anonymous member, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, in a rally in front of the Department of Justice office in Manila.

Another Anonymous member also added that the group did not leak the data of Filipino voters, but admitted that they were behind the Comelec site's defacing.

Hindi po 'yan ano... walang kinikuhang data d'yan," he said, explaining they were just trying to prove that the Comelec website is not secured from hackers.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) earlier arrested two Anonymous members, Paul Biteng and Jonnel De Asis, who were the suspected hackers behind the Comelec data breach.

Anonymous, meanwhile, warned the other group supposedly responsible for putting them in a bad light.

Anonymous said the group has implemented a "ceasefire" until the election season ends and assured the public that they are also watching for possible cheating during the election day.

Nandito kami at magbabantay," the group said. – report from Dexter Ganibe, ABS-CBN News
