MANILA -- (3rd UPDATE) Tropical depression Amang on Sunday will dump moderate to heavy rains over large swaths of the country before it pummels a central island, the state weather bureau said.

In its 8 p.m. bulletin, state weather bureau PAGASA said the storm was last seen 135 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte at 7 p.m.

It has maintained its strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and 60 kph gusts.

Amang is moving west northwest at 25 kph and is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Norte mainland or Siargao Islands Sunday night.

The same rain intensity will lash Eastern Visayas and Bicol region until Tuesday, it added.
