BAYBAY CITY, Leyte - Authorities have declared a state of health emergency in this city due to the increasing number of dengue cases, a city health officer said Tuesday.

The declaration will help the city in its strengthened advocacy to curb the incidence of the mosquito-borne disease, said City Health Officer Nirberto Oja.

Some 173 dengue cases, with 3 deaths, have been recorded in the city as of Tuesday.
