While Alvarez acknowledged that some members of the House of Representatives may have committed mistakes when they interpellated Dayan about his seven-year relationship with the senator, the Speaker also urged critics to remember that lawmakers are "only human."

Congressmen in Thursday's hearing had asked Dayan if his love for De Lima had been "pure," when their relationship reached "climax" and if he took a sex video with his former lover.

Alvarez, however, insisted that asking questions about De Lima's affair with Dayan is necessary to prove that she is a "serial liar" who received drug payoffs from high-profile inmates through her alleged bagmen, Dayan and Joenel Sanchez, another former security aide.
