Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/FileDismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo present during the Quad Comm hearing into Illegal POGOs, illegal drugs, and alleged EJKs during the Duterte Administration in Quezon City on September 19, 2024. Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News/FileMANILA -- The camp of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo has insisted on the dismissal of the perjury and falsification complaints filed by the National Bureau of Investigation in connection with her signed affidavit for her human trafficking case involving illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGOs.

Guo's lawyer Atty. Stephen David said they have already submitted their counter-affidavit as Guo presented herself to the panel of government prosecutors at the Department of Justice Tuesday.

"Ito yung preliminary investigation sa kasong perjury saka falsification, well nag-submit kami ng counter-affidavit so basically tapos na ang PI on our part except kung mag-reply yung kabila sasagutin namin," David said.

The NBI had filed several complaints against Guo, along with five others, before the Department of Justice in connection with her allegedly spurious counter-affidavit.

Guo, lawyer Elmer Galicia who notarized the counter-affidavit, and four other individuals, are facing falsification by a notary public, use of falsified documents, perjury and obstruction of justice complaints.

The counter-affidavit signed by Guo and Galicia was dated August 14, 2024, several weeks after Guo supposedly left the Philippines on July 18, 2024.

David stressed that there is no evidence to pin down Guo of perjury and falsification.

"Siya ang talagang pumirma, pre-signed kasi iyan, so wala akong nakikitang falsification doon kasi siya naman ang pumirma, ngayon kung sino ang nag-notaryo dapat yun ang tanungin natin," David said.

Asked if Galicia should be pinned down instead for notarizing Guo's affidavit, David refused to comment.

"Syempre hindi ako pwede mag comment dyan kasi sub-judice pero on the part of the affiant, si mayor, wala siya eh, paano mo sasabihing humarap siya sa abogado," David said.

Guo is in detention at the Pasig City Jail over charges related to illegal POGOs.

The dismissed Bamban mayor left the Philippines in July for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She was eventually apprehended by Indonesian authorities early in September.

She has repeatedly denied being one of the "big bosses" of POGO operations in the Philippines, instead telling the Senate last month that she is a "victim."
