AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Rumampa ang ilang kabataan sa tinawag na “Santacruzan for a Cause” na ginanap sa Auckland, New Zealand. Ipinakita rito ang kultura, tradisyon at ang pagkakaisa ng mga Pilipino. Inorganisa ito ng Banyuhay Aotearoa , isang charitable organisation sa New Zealand. 

 

“Yung Santacruzan, it encompasses the three pillars, yung for a cause, yung proceeds, we will use for future projects like anything na pwede gawin within the migrant community...Naisip namin na gawin siyang staple sa mga events namin every year so  magiging annual na siya,” pahayag ni Banyuhay Aotearoa Chairperson of the Board Lois Carlos.


Santacruzan for a cause sa Auckland, New ZealandSentro ng programa ang prusisyon na sinalihan ng mga kabataang nakasuot ng naggagandahang gowns at traditional attire. Labing-isang batang edad 3-14 ang lumahok sa online patimpalak para sa titulong Reyna Flores de Aotearoa. Iginawad ang korona kay Natalia Mendoza na nakakuha ng pinakamaraming online votes.

 

“I was proud! My favourite part was when I got crowned!,” kwento ni Natalia.

 

It's a very nice surprise that she won, I'm proud of her,” sabi ni Graciel Matencio-Mendoza, ina ni Natalia.

 

Isa pa sa mga tampok sa programa ang Harana Singing Contest, kung saan ang mga piyesa ay mga awiting Filipino. Nakuha ng grupong Abakada ang 1st prize.

 

“We did a song called Pasilyo by SunKissed Lola. Cory wanted to do this song because he really liked the song,” sabi ni Alex Goal ng grupong Abakada.

 

“There's a few Filipino songs that I know that I'm a big fan of,” ani Cory Brown ng grupong Abakada.
