MANILA — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday said it has an “airtight case” against Gerrard Raymund Yu, the suspect in the Ayala road rage incident last week that led to the death of an elderly family driver.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla ordered prosecutors to prosecute Yu “to the fullest extent of the law.”

The statement of Remulla comes after the Makati City Prosecutor's Office found probable cause to indict Yu for murder and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“We have an airtight case right now based on available evidence and witnesses. Ensure that justice will be served,” Remulla said.

He said he hoped the incident would serve as a reminder to drivers not to resort to violence at all times.

“There is no reason or cause to disregard one’s life because of a road rage. It is best to always bear in mind each time we are behind the wheel, life is a hundred times more precious than our egos," Remulla said.

The victim was travelling with a female passenger and a minor in a white Toyota Innova when he was gunned down by a man driving a black Mercedes Benz.
