Star has 2 chances to close out Barangay Ginebra in their best-of-7 series.

One thing Chito Victolero knows for sure; the Star head coach isn't looking past this weekend to get the job done.

Victolero and his squad will go for the kill in Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals at Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

The momentum is on the side of Star, which came away with an 89-80 victory over Ginebra on Friday.

It has been a defensive, physical series, that winning has boiled down to who can make shots and maintain composure.

“I hope yung positive attitude namin, the way we played the game, the way we enjoyed the game, sana ganun pa rin ang attitude namin on Sunday,” Victolero said.

Paul Lee and Allein Maliksi have anchored Star's offense, while Marc Pingris and Rafi Reavis have stepped up on defense.

“We have a system and materials to play very good defense. Kasi duduguin ka talaga sa opensa . . . Kelangan namin to be consistent (on defense) coming into Game 6,” Victolero said.

Meanwhile, Ginebra veteran Jayjay Helterbrand said his team needs to snap out of its early-game struggles if it hopes to send the series to a Game 7.

“If we are not awake right now, then we are in trouble. It’s a must win for us next game or else it’s ‘Boracay’ time, so we gotta win the next game,” Helterbrand told Fox Sports Asia.

“For some reason, we like it like this. I don’t know why, parang ganun yung gusto namin, we played better with our back against the wall,” he added. “Gusto namin nahihirapan kami, I honestly think we play better that way.”
