Hall-of-fame boxing promoter Bob Arum doesn’t know if Manny Pacquiao still wants to return to the ring.

After shelving his supposed November rematch against Jeff Horn, the senator has been relatively quiet about his future as a fighter.

“I don’t know if he’s gonna fight,” Arum acknowledged in a recent interview on Everlast podcast TALKBOX.

The Top Rank CEO said Pacquiao, the only boxer to win 11 major titles in 8 divisions, is currently busy with his work as a lawmaker.

“He’s really into the political situation. He’s being groomed by people in the Philippines to be the next president,” Arum said.

“So when it’s a choice of doing the public good or taking the time to work in a gym to prepare himself for a fight, he’s going to adopt the former.”

ABS-CBN News sought Pacquiao's camp for comment, but there wasn't a response at the time this story was posted.

Pacquiao lost via unanimous decision to Horn in Brisbane last July, a result that was blasted by many fight aficionados around the world.

Initially, he opted to exercise the rematch clause with a fight date penciled for November 12. Organizers said the bout will again take place in Brisbane.

But Arum said Pacquiao made it clear he doesn’t want to fight Horn in Australia, given the way the judging turned out in the first bout.

Pacquiao proposed to have the rematch in the Philippines, but his promoter turned down the idea.

“He wants to fight in the Philippines and with the peso being P52 to the dollar. How the hell is everybody going to get paid, let alone him?" Arum said in a previous report.
