Following the announcement that the group will be taking an indefinite hiatus, J-Hope of BTS will be releasing his first solo album on July 15.

He will be the first of the seven members to release a solo album. Big Hit Music, the agency of the South Korean group, made the announcement last June 25.

Before releasing his first solo album, J-Hope would be pre-releasing a song on the first of July. His first album, titled Jack in the Box, is set to represent the singer’s aspirations to break the mold and grow further, according to Big Hit’s statement.

Aside from releasing his first solo album, the 28-year-old K-Pop star is set to perform at the Lollapalooza music festival that will be happening from July 28 to 31 in Chicago, Illinois. He is one of the headliners for the music festival and is set to perform on the last day of the event.

J-Hope being a headliner for the music festival is a historic feat as he would be the first South Korean artist to perform on the main stage. He would be replacing Doja Cat, who had to beg off after her tonsil surgery.

BTS announced during their “Festa Dinner with BTS” last June 14 that they would be taking a hiatus as a group. They would be focusing on individual activities to allow each of them to grow as artists.

As J-Hope is the first to release a solo album, he wouldn’t be the last from the K-Pop supergroup. The group’s leader, RM, announced that they would be releasing solo albums instead of mixtapes for the fans to enjoy and appreciate their solo efforts.
