Right after Philippines’ bet to the 71st Miss Universe Celeste Cortesi bowed out of the competition last January 15, Filipino designer Michael Leyva revealed the gowns he specifically designed for the beauty queen.

Michael shared some of his creations on his social media accounts which sparked interest from pageant lovers.

It wasn’t clear, however, if Celeste would’ve worn his creations during the Finals night.

“She is indeed #celestial 💙💙💙 Gown options i made for her for the evening gown competition 😍😍😍 Thank you our queen @celeste_cortesi for making us all proud,” he wrote in his caption.

One of the gowns he designed amazed netizens as it appeared like a perfect fit for the beauty queen as it emphasized her body curves. The Filipino designer revealed that the sky blue gown Celeste wore was fully beaded with Swarovski matched with a cape.

Netizens shared their reactions on social media on what they deemed as “what could’ve been” for the creations of Michael.

“Yung mga gowns na gawa ni Michael Leyva ang gaganda 😭😭 bagay na bagay kay queen Celeste 😭😭😭,” @annetrilles3 of Twitter wrote.

“The gown Michael Leyva did for Celeste would have been perfect for her!” @howardtuanqui added.

“Hayss ang ganda ganda sayang bat hindi yang sinuot sa preliminary palang,” Maila Magsipoc Mamogay commented on Michael’s Facebook post.

Meanwhile, netizens also noticed one of the other gowns looked like the evening gown that former Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez wore during her stint in the competition in the previous year.

The 71st edition of Miss Universe saw the end of the 12-year-long streak of the Philippines making it to the Top 16 of the competition.

Celeste was aiming for the fifth Miss Universe crown of the country following the successes of Catriona Gray, Pia Wurtzbach, Margie Moran, and Gloria Diaz.

Miss USA R'Bonney Gabriel, a Filipno-American, was crowned Miss Universe 2022.
