Filipino-American artist Tiana Kocher has been chosen to perform the MassKara Festival 2024 theme song alongside SB19’s Josh Cullen.

In an interview, Tiana shared her excitement about the opportunity, stating, “I was truly so honored. One of my biggest goals in life is to show the rest of the world what the Philippines has to offer. Considering the majority of my audience is based in North and South America, I'm so proud to show them a little piece of my heritage.”

Describing the project, the granddaughter of Juan Ponce Enrile and the grand niece of the late Armida Siguion-Reyna said, “I think the song captures the essence of the MassKara Festival perfectly. It’s very upbeat, bright and lively just like the festival. I love the use of English and Hiligaynon lyrics to also reach a broader audience. The production is also so grand, just like the festival. It’s truly such a well thought out theme song.” The official music video for the MassKara Festival song was produced by G Studios of Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo.

Although Tiana and Josh Cullen couldn’t film together due to conflicting schedules, she expressed her admiration for the collaboration. “I think we absolutely smashed it. Josh is really talented and I love the flair and energy he brought into the song and video. I would love to have the opportunity to work with Josh again, whether it be working on a collaboration or writing with him and SB19,” the singer-songwriter added.

With MassKara Festival set for October 27, 2024, Tiana shared her excitement about her first-ever festival experience in the Philippines. “Very excited to meet new people, eat good food and of course, really excited to watch a lot of the MassKara and artist performances. I’ve actually never been to a festival in the Philippines so being invited to sing the theme song and to attend one of the biggest festivals nationwide is a very pinch me moment,” she said.

Expressing how proud she is of her Filipino heritage, she said that she hopes to work on more Filipino music in the future. “I’ve never been to Bacolod prior to filming the video so it was also really cool to explore new parts of my home country and try new things. I do feel like it keeps me very grounded. The MassKara theme song is the first project I ever recorded in the Philippines and also the first song I recorded that includes a Filipino dialect. I’m looking forward to making some original music of mine in Tagalog and would also love to collaborate with local artists and producers,” she relayed.
