The Week 15 of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo was noticeably steered more on the dramatic side as we witnessed the repercussions of the decisions made by the lead characters Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Mokang (Lovi Poe), and how they and their respective families confronted the challenging circumstances they’re in.

For this week’s first episode, we saw how Father Ruben (Nanding Josef) and some parish staff immediately came to Tanggol’s rescue upon seeing him severely wounded and blooded, and brought him into the parish office to treat his wounds. Meanwhile, Mokang wasn’t able to contain her exasperation as her Kuya Edwin (Ping Medina) forced her to go back home and reprimanded her for defending Tanggol after all the troubles that he gave their family.

Their altercation got interrupted when Marsing’s (Pen Medina) friends informed them that they rushed him to the hospital after getting hit-and-run by a car. Mokang and Nita (Susan Africa) immediately went to the hospital to check on him and found out that he was in critical condition as he suffers from hemorrhage and several injuries.

This made Mokang blame herself for dreaming of a having a grand 18th birthday, which brought strings of problems to their family and compelled them to take on desperate measures in order to make that dream come true. But Nita consoled her, by telling her that they never blame her for everything that happened since they also wanted to see her happy.

A heated argument once again interrupted between Mokang and Edwin as they found out the total amount of their bill. Edwin once again holding Tanggol liable with the mess they’re in, with Mokang impliedly condemned her brother for not being madiskarte enough to help their family.

When he gained consciousness, Tanggol had an enlightening conversation with Fr. Ruben, who asked him about what happened and told him that the Black Nazarene probably wants to remind her to stop getting involved in any trouble not just for himself, but for his family most importantly. While he’s been wanting to leave his old habits behind and live a brand-new life, he told Fr. Ruben how difficult it is. But Fr. Ruben retorted that it’s not an enough reason because everyone of us are given the freewill to choose to do what is right or wrong towards the people around us. He encouraged him, “Alam ko, araw-araw tayong sinusubukan ng Diyos para labanan ang mga pagsubok. Pero ang Diyos lamang ang ating makakapitan. Kaya mo ‘yan.”

Despite not being completely okay and Fr. Ruben’s encouragement for him to stay at least for a night, Tanggol still insisted on leaving. Thus, Fr. Ruben just advised him to further seek the divine guidance of Poong Nazareno and to visit the church more often.

In the second episode, seeing how truly frustrated her best friend is with all the problems she currently goes through, Chicky (Toni Fowler) lent Mokang some money that she could use in buying the medicines Marsing needs. Since they would need a hefty amount of money to cover the hospitalization of Marsing, Chicky once again convinced Mokang to join her at her work in the nightclub. And it seems that Mokang is considering it this time, especially when the doctors found out that her father has severe traumatic brain injury and blood clot that requires him to undergo operations.

Meanwhile, as Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and his henchmen roamed around Quiapo to look for his long-lost son, he was reminded of everything that happened that fateful day two decades ago. Not convinced with the story told by the current tenant at the Dimaguiba’s residence where Tess got raped, Ramon and his minions forcibly entered the house to double check and indeed found none. It turned out that his sister Olga (Irma Adlawan) ordered her right-hand Paquito (Paolo Serrano) to also go there and told the tenant to tell Ramon and his group that the Dimaguiba already moved to Bicol to live a new life after the incident.

As they’re about to leave the area, their car accidentally bumped into Rigor (John Estrada), who, as we all know, almost got him killed after their intense and bloody skirmish many years ago, which is actually the reason why he got suspended in service. That got Rigor really infuriated and banged their car, but Ramon chose not to waste their time on him, who he seemingly recognized as they sped off past him.

The third episode commenced with Christine Cheng (Marina Benipayo), the daughter of Angkong (Joonee Gamboa), sought the help of Greg (RK Bagatsing) as her dad told her that his Uncle Ramon is their hope when she visited him in jail. At the same time, Tess (Cherry Pie Picache) finally mustered the courage to ask for Rigor’s help regarding the current situation of Tanggol. But Rigor was highly against the idea even though he would benefit to it as well, and firmly imposed that Tanggol is indeed involved with the drug syndicate.

Meanwhile, Nita and Mokang finally found out the truth behind Marsing’s tragic accident when his friends Opong (Pokski Ramirez) and Iking (Marlon Tourette) went to the hospital and relayed to them what happened. Upon learning it from Nita, Edwin blamed the ruthless Roda (Joel Lamangan) and vowed to make him pay for it, as well as the people who did it to Marsing.

Tanggol was able to safely return to at Berting’s (Joey Marquez) restaurant, which serves as his and his friends’ temporary hideout. Berting, of course, reprimanded him and them as they insisted on exacting revenge at the members of Batang Tondo. However, the group pleaded for him to return their guns for them to be able to protect themselves once they figured in another trouble again.

Ramon may not recall his initial skirmish with Rigor many years ago, but he could clearly remember that he’s the one who almost got him killed in a police operation. He was able to find out not just his name, but he’s also one of the police officers who shot him during his heist in Quiapo through a phone call with a certain police general.

In the fourth episode, just when Tess and Tindeng are still deeply troubled over Tanggol’s drug dilemma, they found out that he actually figured in a rambulan outside the church earlier that day. Fr. Ruben swung by the Dimaguiba residence to ask about Tanggol and clarified that Tanggol actually didn’t start it, but the Batang Tondo members who just retaliated at him.

As she overheard the conversation between Don Julio (Tommy Abuel) and Ramon regarding the latter’s continuous search for his missing son, Olga warned Greg about it and told him to get ready for their mission of not making their paths cross.

Still troubled on how he would convince the higher-ups to let him get back to service, David (McCoy de Leon) advised him to accept Tess’ proposal for him to help Tanggol in surrendering the drugs in their possession, which could be his bait in finally putting him in jail since he and his friends are wanted by the authorities after all.

On the other hand, Berting didn’t only agree to give back to Tanggol and his friends their guns, but also accompanied them in turning over the drugs to Rigor.

In the last episode for this week, we witnessed the desperation of Mokang in finding funds for Marsing’s hospitalization. She was able to sell one of their phones and tried to borrow money from some of their neighbors, yet to no avail. However, she was able to get potential financial aid from a government institution, who’s likely to give her around P20,000 to P25,000 once her application will be approved.

Ramon finally found out that Rigor is the husband of his rape victim Tess, which confirmed his hunch that his long-lost son is indeed still in Quiapo. Olga immediately ordered Greg and their minions to go to Quiapo and kill his estranged cousin, in hopes of getting ahead of Ramon and his henchmen, who were also on their way to look for Tanggol.

And it was the group of Greg who was able to arrive first in Hidalgo, turning heads of the people they passed by as they marched through the narrow alleys going to the house of Tanggol. The Batang Quiapo were also on their way there, but were interrupted by their neighbors who tipped them that there were men in suspicious civilian outfits and carrying guns, who they assumed were looking for their group.

The episode concluded with Greg commanding his men to mercilessly fire at the Dimaguiba residence.

Amusing comments from netizens

Emotions are arguably a bit higher for this week’s episodes as we witnessed the lead characters go through catastrophic circumstances in their respective lives. As usual, the actors behind them are able to deliver compelling performances as usual, which really made us feel that they’re indeed their characters.

Cherry Pie really gave us picture of a mother who’s extremely worried about the welfare of her kid and would do everything in order to keep them from harm. We saw how her character Tess pitifully begged her husband Rigor to help Tanggol with his dilemma, which could help him resolve his as well.

While Cherry Pie endeared us as Tess, the father-and-son tandem of Rigor and David, effectively portrayed by John Estrada and McCoy de Leon, once again made our bloods boil because of the snide remarks they hurled at Tanggol, and how they accused of something that he is not nor he didn’t do. They even connived to take advantage of Tanggol’s current woes by pretentiously helping him out, yet sending him to jail eventually while Rigor will use it to get back to service.

Of course, the performances of the rest of the cast couldn’t be overlooked as they all did great jobs. The viewers weren’t able to help themselves from getting swayed by everything that’s happening in each episode – from Tanggol’s conversation with Father Ruben and Mokang’s desperation to resolve their family problem, to Rigor and David’s wicked connivance and Noy’s (Lou Veloso) funny antics providing breather to the intense and dramatic scenes.

The scenes for this week’s episodes might be more on the dramatic side, but those were enough to get us excited on the thrilling skirmish that we’re about to witness in the upcoming week. The last scene in the last episode, wherein Greg and his henchmen mercilessly firing at the Dimaguiba residence once they figured out that it was where the man they’d been searching for resides, really got the viewers “bitin.” But, at the same time, they’re excited to see the surefire face-off between cousins Tanggol and Greg, as well as the much-awaited meeting of Tanggol and his biological dad Ramon.

Here are some of the tweets from viewers that showed their amusement and excitement for this week’s episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo:

Will Tanggol and Ramon’s highly anticipated meeting finally happen in the upcoming week? Let’s all find out by not missing an episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
