Ever since it premiered a month ago, Mars Ravelo’s Darna has been one of the most talked about series on local television. And one of the reasons could be to catch sight of Jane de Leon’s transformation into Darna.

But aside from her, who could among the actresses that portrayed the iconic superheroine stand out the most for Jane’s co-stars Joj Agpangan and Viveika Ravanes? Well, the two gregarious actresses dished about it in the September 15 episode of Hotspot.

Just like her fellow millennials, Joj was among those who were able to watch the Darna versions starred by Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera. But since veteran actress Rio Locsin is her co-star the said series, Joj was also able to see the former’s depiction of the iconic Pinay superheroine after Rio showed them her Darna film many years, which turned out to be her eventual favorite as she appreciates the nostalgia it exudes, and most importantly, the performance of Rio.

Viveika, on the other hand, picked Vilma Santos as the most remarkable Darna for as she was able to prove that a superhero can be small but terrible. “Siya ‘yong unang nagpakita na ang Filipino superhero ay pwedeng maliit lang, sexy. ‘Yong walang muscle, wala masyadong malaking dibdib. Basta maliit na babae lang pero lintik ‘yong kapangyarihan, ‘di ba? Tapos ‘yong puso niya sobrang laki sa pagmamahal at kabaitan para sa bawat tao,” she described.

Moreover, she was also able to watch Angel and Marian, as well as Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Nanette Medved, and Anjanette Abayari.

Viveika and Joj also enthusiastically took on DJ Jhai Ho’s mini challenge for them, which is to show their own version of Narda’s transformation to Darna. The first one to demonstrate hers was Joj, who imparted that she was actually being teased by her colleagues because of her distinct Visayan accent. But she would definitely prove them wrong because according to her, she would yell “Darna” with all her might (despite nursing sore throat during the interview), but after playing with the magical stone as if it’s a nut before swallowing it.

For Viveika, she doesn’t mind if the stone is small or big as she can surely swallow it and would proudly shout “Darna” at the top of her lungs.

Since this proved that the role of Darna can only be played by certain actresses, so Joj conveyed how happy they are for Jane de Leon by saying, “Happy kami lahat kay Jane kasi super big break talaga ‘to sa kanya at saka nakita naman namin lahat ng efforts niya. Kahit sobrang pagod sa taping and everything, grabe, all out.”

As the gregarious host jested how he saw himself in Darna while watching the series, Joj and Viveika dared him to do it as well, which he gamely took on by exhibiting her pa-sweet version of Darna’s transformation.
