Kitamura also recalled her unique audition experience. She said it was her father who helped her practice for the audition, having been in Hong Kong at the time.

"It was somewhat odd of an experience," said Kitamura. "He would give me directorial notes, and I was like: 'Okay, dad.' And there were lines in my audition, talking about how the boys, asking if they make out with one another, and so my dad's like: What are you auditioning for? And so that was such a strange experience."
