New eats: Brother's Burger adds pizza to menu

MANILA -- Brother’s Burger, the burger joint that helped start the gourmet burger trend, has recently added pizza to its already extensive menu.

At first glance, pizza may be an unusual addition to a burger restaurant’s offerings. However, this addition was the result of listening to its customers. When the owners asked their customers what else they could add to their menu, the answer was stone-baked thin-crust pizza.

“We’re beyond burgers,” declared chef Quito Jose, one of the Jose brothers behind Brother’s Burger, “At the end of the day, we just want to serve what our customers want.”

A lot of work has really gone into the product development as the crunch of the crust rivals those of more specialized pizza restaurants. The four varieties feature in-house ingredients from the Brother’s Burger commissary that give flavors that you can only get from the restaurant.

Surprisingly, the best-seller is the basic Cheesey Cheese Pizza. Cheese lovers will like the special cream cheese and garlic sauce with special cheddar cheese and mozzarella on a tomato base.

The Pepperoni Pizza is the most recent addition to the pizza selections -- a request from kids for the simple combination of mozzarella and pepperoni finally got this on the menu.

The Butcher’s Brother is the restaurant's version of the ever popular meat lovers pizza. Crumbled chorizo and burger patties, bacon, and pepperoni adorn this protein-packed pie. It makes for a heavy meal that could satisfy a hefty appetite.

Finally there is the Supremo meat and vegetable pizza. Chorizo sausage made in-house by Brother’s Burger is the star of this pie supported by olives, onions, bell-pepper and black olives.

There are also special off-the-menu varieties like the Cheeseburger Pizza topped with mushrooms, crumbled Brother’s Burger patty, and a thick criss-crossing of cheese sauce.

As of now, the pizzas are only available as 11-inch solo pizzas. But it seems that Brother’s Burger is betting big on pizzas as they will be upgrading the kitchen soon to serve bigger 18-inch family size pizzas.

The plans don’t stop there. Brother's Burger aim to have 15 branches by the end of the year. They are partnering with Chachago for milk tea that will soon be available at Brother’s Burger branches.

There are also plans of repurposing their gas station-based stores into cafés specializing in take-out for motorists rushing to their next destination.

Clearly, Brother’s Burgers has proven that it is much more than just burgers with a large menu that includes hotdogs, Mexican staples, wings, rice bowls, and now, pizza. It has definitely transcended from a mere burger joint with its curated selection of gourmet burgers to a full-blown diner that has something for everyone.
