Following a restful holiday, designers will embark on a journey of discovery aimed to explore future possibilities. As we plan ahead and look at the bright future ahead of us, design takes the lead and invites people from all walks of life to join and immerse ourselves in innovative aspects.

The Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) answers this call with the debut showcase of the Manila Interior Design Summit (MIDS). Carrying the theme, Designing The Future, the organization is set to mount an event that introduces the many ways we can sustain design in the years to come.

“We often consider the future in the way we live and the decisions that we make daily. As interior designers and shapers of the built environment, now more than ever, the call to actionis to sculpt spaces that are future-proof, sustainable, and also preserving humanity and culture,“Communications Head Hannah Dumlao explains.

Ongoing through April 12, the grand affair will not only feature stimulating activities like exhibitions—PIID has joined hands with design experts from our country as well as our Asian neighbors like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and Singapore.

These industry leaders will discuss strategies and best practices from their experience during the summit’s two-day design symposium called GRN META: Metamorphosis of Green Spaces. They will further pose questions on how to find solutions on the topic of sustainable design—and how collaborative efforts from members of the design field will contribute to achieving this specific goal.

Apart from informative talks, attendees can get inspired with other activities in store for them, such as the PIID Exhibition, happening at the Alveo Central Plaza in BGC Arts Center, and the Philippine Arts & Crafts Exhibition by Kindred Collective at the Nutriasia Lobby in Maybank Performing Arts Theater BGC. The Digital PIID Art Walk will also commence on the summit’s first day in various locations in BGC.

And following the symposium, the PIID will also hold the PIID Gala and APSDA Awards at Marquis Events Place—where the organization is set to launch the newest app made for interior designers.

In addition to the summit’s exciting venture, PIID extends the learning with the presentation of Grammar of Movement Lecture and Diyosa by Ballet Philippines by Carlo Calma, slated on April 16 at The Theatre At Solaire.
