PSG bars Sara Duterte from attending Misamis Occidental campaign rally

MANILA – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, campaign manager of the coalition Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), on Thursday said the Presidential Security Group (PSG) barred her from attending a campaign rally in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental on Wednesday.

Duterte-Carpio was already on her way to the Sinanduloy Culture Center in Tangub City when she was told by the PSG that she can no longer proceed to the venue.

“That morning, malapit na kami, hindi daw pwede tumuloy. They (PSG officers) did not explain why,” Duterte-Carpio told reporters on the sidelines of HNP’s campaign sortie in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

“The order came from the highest officer of the PSG.”

Duterte-Carpio had also skipped HNP’s campaign sortie in the Bicol Region in March and was represented by her brother, Sebastian Duterte.

She and HNP candidates are expected to proceed to Cagayan De Oro City on April 5, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur on April 9, and Agusan del Sur and Compostela Valley on April 10. – report from Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News
