4 NICA men busted for alleged extortion

MANILA — The National Intelligence Coordinating Agency has launched an investigation after 4 of their personnel were arrested for alleged extortion.

Four NICA officers were nabbed by the NBI in a P2 million extortion attempt from a Korean national in Pasay City.

NICA said they are conducting their own probe on their personnel and emphasized that they take allegations of misconduct seriously. The agency said they will make the appropriate action once they have validated the allegations.

According to the victim, there were 2 other accomplices besides the 4 arrested suspects.

He said they introduced themselves as personnel from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Office of the President and informed him that he has an existing case in the BI.

The victim narrated that he already paid the suspects P450,000 so that his alleged arrest warrant won’t be served.

The suspects allegedly asked for more money so that his case will be “fixed”.

This prompted him to report to the NBI, which led to the arrest.
