MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday assured the Philippine Air Force (PAF) of his administration’s support for the continuous development of its capabilities.

Marcos made the commitment as he led the celebration of the PAF’s 77th Founding Anniversary at the Cesar Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

He noted consistent efforts of his government to boost the capabilities of the PAF including the acquisition of additional air assets, enhancing cyber warfare communication systems, and pursuing base development programs.

“Indeed, these assets contribute to an agile Air Force—capable of protecting our nation, our people, and our resources; and dedicated to ensure that we are ready to face challenges with advanced precision, speed, and force,” the President said.

“As your Commander-in-Chief, I assure you of this Administration’s support in prioritizing your welfare, ensuring that you are well attended to in terms of overall health and wellness so you may perform your duties effectively and safely,” he continued.

The Philippine leader in his speech highlighted the PAF's contribution to the government’s efforts to increase maritime domain awareness, the conduct of internal security operations, and in heightening the country’s international defense and security engagements through talks with foreign military counterparts and participation in multiple bilateral and multilateral military exercises.

“This is a testament to our stern resolve to contribute to the global peace and security. In all of these, the selfless women and men of the Air Force have been nothing short of exemplary, especially in your efforts to provide prompt assistance by regularly conducting humanitarian and disaster response operations,” Marcos said.

During the program, the PAF conducted a simulation of a combination of air operations to retake a territory by destroying enemy command and control. The activity was meant to showcase the territorial defense operations capability of the PAF, as well as the capability of its assets including their FA50 aircraft, S70i Blackhawk helicopter, and C295 transport aircraft.

The PAF also demonstrated the Guided Precision Aerial Delivery System (GPADS) and Ground Based Air Defense System (GBADS).

A flight formation fleet of T-41 and SF-260 aircraft forming the number "77" also flew over the Basa air base to celebrate the PAF’s 77th Anniversary.
