Dela Rosa slams PNP for withholding salary of detained cop in QuadComm mess

MANILA — Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Monday berated the Philippine National Police (PNP) for withholding the salary of detained cop Col. Hector Grijaldo, who has been cited in contempt by the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee.

Grijaldo accused Quad Comm co-chairpersons Dan Fernandez and Bienvenido Abante, Jr. of coercing him to confirm the supplemental affidavit of police officer Royina Garma on the drug war.  

Fernandez and Abante have denied the accusation, while Grijaldo has been ordered detained at PNP Station 6 in Quezon City.

“Sobrang injustice na sa kanya... Dapat ang PNP you should be proud of him for standing for what is right and for standing for the truth. Dapat iconsider niyong bayani si Colonel Grijaldo dahil di siya nagpapatinag eh, sinasabi niya yung katotohanan." Dela Rosa said.

“Isn’t it double injustice on his part na wala nang makain yung pamilya niya dahil pinutulan niyo ng suweldo? Huwag kayo magpatuta-tuta sa mga pulitiko," the senator added. 

The PNP said it is apolitical and will submit documents regarding Grijaldo who is now on automatic leave of absence without pay.
