MANILA - Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has worn brooches shaped like snakes and flowers to underscore how she felt during her tour as top diplomat for the world superpower.

Albright wore a sunshine-shaped pin made of capiz shells during a visit to Manila last June for ANC's Leadership Forum.

If given the opportunity to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte, Albright said she would accessorize her shoulder with a "powerful man with a loudspeaker."

Albright said she started wearing statement pins at the end of the Gulf War in the early 1990s, when she was vilified in Iraqi media as an "unparalleled serpent."

"I had a snake pin and I wore it whenever we talked about Iraq," said Albright, who worked as an instructor to the US Ambassador to the United Nations at that time.

"I went out and I bought a lot of jewelry that would in fact depict how I felt on any given day. On good days, I wore flowers and butterflies and balloons and on bad days, a lot of horrible animals," she said in an interview aired Wednesday on ANC's Headstart.

Albright said she made her displeasure known to Moscow after it was found out that the Russians had wiretapped the State Department offices.

"The next time I met with the Russian foreign minister, I wore this huge bug," she said.

For former president Bill Clinton, Albright said she wore the 3 monkeys covering their eyes, ears and mouth.
