MANILA -- Lyceum of the Philippines University was crowned champion of the Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament after thrashing San Sebastian College - Recoletos (SSCR) in the grand finals, 2-0, held at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on Thursday.

Lyceum took the first grand finals spot after sending SSCR to the lower bracket finals where the Stags faced a wax-hot De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) squad that blazed through the early parts of the lower bracket.

After the Stags eliminated CSB and booked the last grand finals slot, the Pirates asserted their dominance anew in two straight games to secure the title.

As Lyceum reached match point in Game 1, San Sebastian put up a close fight in Game 2.

But a team fight down the Stags' base swung in the way of Lyceum in the 17th minute, allowing the Pirates to secure the first CCE title.

San Sebastian will end the tourney at second place, while CSB settled for third.

Mark Kenneth “Mark” Delos Reyes emerged as the season's MVP for his steady showing as the team's jungler.

“Sobrang saya po na nakuha ko ‘yung Season 1 MVP. Sobrang worth it 'yung pagod namin sa practice pero itong MVP na ito, para ito sa buong team kasi lahat kami nag-trabaho para makuha itong championship,” Delos Reyes told the crowd at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Thursday evening.

Lyceum banked on a dominant run from the group stages to emerge as the top-seeded team in the entire league, winning nine straight games to secure the playoffs spot.
