Coco Martin admits he feels pressured being paired with Toni Gonzaga

Coco Martin revealed that it was initially tough for him to do the scenes in the romantic-comedy movie You’re My Boss. “First time ko sa genreng ‘to kaya may nire-required na timing. Ako pa naman ‘pag tumingin ako sa camera may karga at may bigat so ‘yon ‘yung unang ginamot namin nila direk.”

It’s Coco’s first time to work with Toni Gonzaga and he admitted that he was very conscious at first with his scenes with the multi-media star. “Sobrang hiyang-hiya ako kay Toni kasi siyempre Toni Gonzaga siya eh. Iniisip ko baka mamaya hindi ako pwedeng magkamali, baka mamaya huhusgahan niya ako sa pag-deliver ng lines, baka mamaya husgahan niya ako sa pagbitiw ng mga English na lines pero ang kagandahan don hindi ko nakita kay Toni ‘yun.”

The actor became comfortable with Toni eventually. He shared that he got along really well with the actress because he felt he was not being treated as a star but as normal friend. “Ilang days pa lang kami magkatrabaho parang ang gaan-gaan na ng pakiramdam ko sa kanya dahil hindi niya tinitingnan kung ano ako. Tinitingnan niya ako bilang tao, hindi lang bilang artista lang.”

He also appreciated the fact that Toni is very open to suggestions and works hand-in-hand with him in this film. “Nakikita ko sa kanya willing siya makipag-collaborate,” he said.

Coco admitted that he feels pressured being paired with Toni considering that the actress came off from the blockbuster hit and critically acclaimed film Starting Over Again. “Honestly nong malaaman kong kasama ko si Toni kinakahabahan ako talaga. Napakataas ng expectation pagdating kay Toni at natatakot ako na baka mamaya first time namin na magkakatrabaho baka masira sa akin si Toni. Pero sabi ko nga honestly hindi ‘yun ang tinitingnan ko dahil bilang artista laging tinitingnan ko kung ano ‘yung kalalabasan ng pelikulang gagawin namin,” he shared.

The actor said he believes that they have produced an exceptional movie and no matter what the result is at the box-office, he remarked that he is already very proud of the movie they have produced. “Sabi ko nga pag ‘yung pelikula kumita siyempre masaya ako dahil ako ‘yung artista pero sabi ko nga bilang artista hindi ako naka-focus lagi don. Tinitingnan ko kung ano ‘yung kalalabasan ng materyal namin pero ngayon sabi ko nga sobrang confident ako dahil alam ko hindi pa lang tapos ‘yung mga eksenang ginagawa namin, alam kung maganda yung ginagawa namin,” he stated.
